DeLorean Peru
DeLorean Peru
Family: Cactaceae
Genus: Trichocereus/Echinopsis
Origin: Native to high altitudes in northwestern South America from Ecuador to Argentina.
DeLorean is an intermediate hybrid closer resembling a Peru while maintaining the skinny fast growth of a bridgesii. Deeply blue with a unique singular straight out spine. I found this plant on the property I live, which happens to be John DeLorean of DMC DeLorean/Back To The Future fame he was a billionaire car tycoon having designed the Pontiac GTO and DMC. He lived here in Pauma Valley until his death, and during all his legal troubles. DeLorean is a very special plant to me that does not get cut, only propagated by windfall so this a very rare clone only passed around to a few community members.
Form/Color: DeLorean forms very tall skinny stands of near deep blue/green columns with a singular long spine. Very beautiful plant who's bright glow always attracts attention.
Water Requirements: Weekly deep drenching throughout most of the year and allow to fully dry out in between. If in a colder climate it's best to stop watering in winter to allow them to go dormant.
